More than what’s happening in our lives, we are concerned about celebrities and their problems. One such celebrity who is in limelight from ages is director Karan Johar. People want to know about his sexuality and in his recent biography “The Unsuitable Boy” he has made it all clear.
He says,”Everybody knows what my sexual orientation is. I don’t need to scream it out. If I need to spell it out, I won’t only because I live in a country where I could possibly be jailed for saying this. Which is why I Karan Johar will not say the three words that possibly everybody knows about me”.
It takes guts to come out and talk about one’s sexuality especially in a country where people are more interested in gossips and making fun of people. Karan Johar has neither come out and accepted what he is nor has he ever denied. I am proud of the fact that this man has always taken the trolls or jokes with dignity. Be it on Koffee with Karan or AIB, Karan Johar has accepted his sexuality without saying it aloud.
Imagine waking up to trolls about things that are too sensitive and personal to oneself, It’s high time now that India should start accepting people as they are.
His statement continues which says, “The reason I don’t say it out aloud is simply that I don’t want to be dealing with the FIRs. I’m very sorry. I have a job, I have a commitment to my company, to my people who work for me; there are over a hundred people that I’m answerable to. I’m not going to sit in the courts because of ridiculous, completely bigoted individuals who have no education, no intelligence, who go into some kind of rapture for publicity. I’ve reached a point in my life where I am not going to conform to what people think I should be saying or doing…So if you have an opinion about my sexuality, then screw you. I don’t care”.
Bravo! Karan Johar for finally talking about it and nailing it. We are excited to read this biography, what about you?
