One of Bollywood’s favourite subject is India’s most wanted, Dawood Ibrahim and the bombings of 93’. Over the years, several filmmakers have taken up the issue and tried to show a new side each time. Apoorva Lakhia, who has previously directed movies like Shootout at Lokhandwala, Ek Ajnabee and Mission Istanbul, tries to do the same with Haseena Parkar. Based on the life story of Haseena Parkar, sister of Dawood Ibrahim, the movie is going to be an entirely different take on the infamous incident and its aftermath. However, that’s not our point of concern. The point is they took Shraddha Kapoor as the titular role. Now why do I have a problem with that? Because of this:
This doesn’t look like a woman who is a crime lord of Mumbai, this looks like someone who is trying to look menacing but actually looks weirdly funny doing so. Kinda like this:
Now I am not saying Shraddha Kapoor can’t act, even though her filmography makes that abundantly clear, but she is definitely not suited for this role. Someone like Vidya Balan could have pulled it off, but Shraddha? I don’t think so. And funnily enough, this is not the only bad casting in the movie. Meet India’s most wanted man:
Do you know who that is? Ladies and gentlemen, this is Siddhant Kapoor, brother of Shraddha Kapoor, son of Shakti bhai. Now this is supposed to be the big break of Siddhant. Although he has appeared in movies like Shootout at Wadala and Jazbaa, he didn’t get that much recognition.
The sister-brother duo could work, though I seriously doubt it. From the looks of it, we can say that Shraddha doesn’t suit the role and neither does Siddhant. But I could be wrong. The film releases on 18th August, guess we have to wait till then to find out.
